YOU DON'T NEED A HOLIDAY YOU NEED CAPE TOWN
We presented the vibrant Cape Town brand as an 'unexpected City' on behalf of Cape Town Tourism at Design Indaba. Our aim was to position Cape Town within the theme of unlocking unexpected experiences in Cape Town. There is certainly more to this beautiful City than meets the eye and we illustrated the campaign 'expected meets unexpected' through an exceptional large scale photo mosaic.
The exhibit resembled a double-sided billboard structure with fascinating layers. 680 pieces made up a black and white grid work image of Table Mountain consisting of 100mm x 100mm square photos. Named among the New7Wonders of Nature, this famous icon presented the first layer of 'expected' perfecly.
As part of the activation delegates were able to participate in an interactive competition. The competition entry forms included stickers of 'unexpected' images highlighting design, nature, people, urban and cosmopolitan city encounters. Each entrant peeled back their unique number and applied the image to the corresponding grid work of the Table Mountain graphic. The end resulted in an incredible mosaic that also outlined a full colour image of Table Mountain. Exploration was enticed. Not what you would expect?
